Our ever growing list of resources to support your mothering and making
Since MWM welcomes ALL mothers, for the most part the below resources are not the kind that tell you how to mother – that is up to you. They are books that support you to value what you are doing better.
First of all, the inspirations for MWM….in part it originated from these books, these women and these intiatives:
What Mothers Do, Especially When It Looks Like Nothing - by Naomi Stadlen
The Rainbow Way, Cultivating Creativity In The Midst of Motherhood - by Lucy Pearce
The amazing La Leche League, an international organization supporting and promoting breastfeeding, also shaped by peer-support, that began when a small group of women talked to one another at a picnic.
There are many other books that we have found inspiring along the way…
The Gardener and The Carpenter by Alison Gopnik – a book about how new the use of ‘parenting’ as a verb is, and with it the dangers of feeling like there is a ‘right way’ to do it.
Mama: Love, Motherhood and Revolution – a wonderful and stirring read for all mothers, by Antonella Gambotto Burke
The Artist’s Way for Parents - by Julia Cameron
Tea and Toast: Poems for New Mums - by Anna Bosworth
