We are delighted to announce a new pilot project, which will commence later this month. We are jumping with joy having received funding from Arts Council England and National Lottery Community Fund supported by Improbable, for a one-year artistic programme to develop support, opportunities and visibility for mother artists in Devon and to support maternal wellbeing. The pilot will establish the support network across 6 hubs in the county, including new rural hubs with MED Theatre in Dartmoor National Park and Libraries Unlimited in North Devon. We will bring mother artists & local creative industries together through a Devoted & Disgruntled Open Space event to discuss access and opportunities for mothers in the arts. We have partnered with Maketank, Exeter Culture and Exeter College to run artistic think tanks to explore the future of motherhood with girls and young women. We will offer free producer surgeries with Kaleider for mother artists. We will work with artist, midwife and mother, Laura Godfrey-Isaacs to run a Maternal Journal programme to support mental wellbeing in early motherhood, supported by Exeter Babies. MWM Devon is led by Lizzy Humber and will culminate in Autumn 2020 with a 4-week gallery exhibition at Exeter Phoenix. More details will be on our website in the coming months.
