Monthly Peer Support
These online meetings aim to give you the space to explore your creative practice and identities alongside your caring roles. We follow a core peer-support talking circle structure, which we guide you through at the start of every meeting. The meeting is facilitated by a m/other-artist and together we explore the emergent themes in our caring and making, points of connection between the two roles, points of dissonance, particular challenges, helpful resources. The meetings are non-hierarchical, the facilitator acts as a guide to take you through the meeting, but also shares as a fellow carer and creative.
Is it for me?
All of our groups are designed to welcome women and non binary people who are mothers, parents or carers, or who are simply curious, at any stage in their journey. Makers of all interests and disciplines are encouraged to join us, whether your creative identity is a profession or passion (or both!), or lying dormant, you are welcome. As this meeting takes place online, we are able to welcome you from anywhere in the world! We aim to offer meetings at different times to accommodate different timezones and commitments. Children, of any age, and other dependents are welcome too. No apology for their presence, needs or noise is ever required. Your dual role as care giver and maker is given equal status at all our events. We want as many people as possible to be part of the unfolding conversations. Our meetings are very welcoming and supportive places, but we understand not everyone will feel included. Please do get in touch with Matilda or Rebecca if would like to discuss access and inclusion to MWM spaces.
N.B. Over the next six months, we are running a series of peer support ’Specials’ but please note that ALL women and non-binary people are welcome at each session - you do not need to have a particular experience or identity in order to attend. If space is limited, then priority will be given to the particular identity named.
