Mothers who Make is a grass roots, international initiative, dedicated to supporting mothers that hold the dual roles of mother and artist.
Every kind of maker is welcome - professional and/or passionate – in any discipline and at any stage on their creative paths - writers, painters, performers, film makers, dancers, producers, musicians, crafters…
Every kind of mother is welcome - biological, adoptive, step, surrogate, foster, bereaved, grand, great grand, to be ….
Children of any age are encouraged to attend too and are integrated into the meeting, for the dual roles of mother and artist are recognised and given equal value within all MWM events.
The first meeting is at Maison de La Famille on 26th November, facilitated by Joanne Allan.

“I’m very excited to set up France’s first “Mothers Who Make” (“mères creatives”!) group. It can be a big challenge juggling professional and personal life, even though we have a lot of help to do that here in France. While mothers are encouraged to go back to work, and supported, there is still progress to make on splitting the mental load. I think a mother who is also an artist/performer has a very particular position in society as well: we’re very privileged to have first hand experience of a person discovering the world for the first time and truly playing, but we’re also suddenly restricted in a way that we are not used to, personally I find that a real challenge. I’m really keen to hear about other mother makers’ experiences and to give them a safe space to talk and play together! ”
