Practice and Principles

MWM_LIsa Whiting

Our PMP will be run in accordance with the MWM principles, as per all our other offerings.

You can read these principles in full here: https://motherswhomake.org/principles

In brief, they go like this:

1) Children welcome: no apology for their presence is ever required. They can be with you when you are holding your mentoring exchange or not. It is up to you and your circumstances.

2) Any kind of mother/ carer: we welcome you no matter your age, race, religion, sexuality, gender identity, (dis)ability, and whether you are a biological, adoptive or bereaved mother.

3) Any kind of maker: we welcome all art forms and creative identities and emphasise that you can be at any stage in your creative journey - imposter syndrome sufferers particularly welcome!

4) Mothering and Making is equally valued: We hold both your caring and creative roles with equal esteem and want you to do this for each other as mentors.

5) Peer support: All our initiatives are non-hierarchical, supporting you to support each other and yourselves. You are your own expert.

6) Diversity is celebrated: there is no one answer, no one way to mother or to make. We do not take or preach any particular approach. We believe everyone needs to find out what works for them and their family- even for each individual this can change over time.
