Where are all the images of us?
At the start of the summer we set you a challenge - to send us an image that captures your mothering and your making. We have received a gorgeous array of selfies, snapshots and even a self portrait. Ever image tells a story.
We also asked photographer Viola Depcik (Mothers Who Make South Devon) to photograph four local mother makers. Viola visited Jude Richards (Dance Practitioner), Jess Geach (Ruby Cubes), Sophie Lovett (Raising Revolutionaries ) and Rachel Meadowns (Visual Artist).
We’ve started a gallery to celebrate making yourself visible and you will find many being used in the coming months on the website. Thank you to everyone who sent us an image. This is a growing archive for you to add your story to, so send us a picture when the moment is right.

Do you have an image of yourself engaged in your creative practice with your child(ren) present? They may be inside, beside you, helping, hindering, playing, running away, watching, being bored, ignoring you, laughing, crying, sleeping. Or could you create one? You can take a photo, draw a picture, make a sculpture - whatever best represents you in your dual roles.

Children’s author Corrinne Averiss writing in bed whilst has daughter Wren naps. “Strangely I had more time, calm and focus in those early months - I guess she slept more. Now she's 2, the single daily nap is eaten up with chores and emails, I rarely feel like being creative against the clock - it's too short a window of time. So this is a nice memory for me.”

Actress Jimena Larraguivel with son Luken Brown. “He’s become my number one assistant/supporter whenever I have an audition; he knows what step goes next in the whole ‘getting ready’ ordeal. Here he’s helping me put on my make up. We are always together and working together but sadly we don’t have many more photos of that. In fact, this photo is a selfie I took a few days ago when I had a casting. A couple of years ago when I had to learn this Shakespearean Sonnet in Spanish for a job and I was stressing out about learning it with my then poorly and clingy baby. Then suddenly I had an idea, took my iPhone and started to film bits of my day and somehow the Sonnet worked perfect with the images and that really motivated me to learn it. I know you’re only looking for photos but I thought I’d share anyway.” Watch it here.

Image: Yiannis Katsaris performing. “CANDID is a project, a life-long ritual, that I've conceived together with my collaborator Tania Batzoglou meant to be repeated in different formats and spaces at least once a year for as long as we live reflecting on how our friendship shifts over time. In last year's performance, Ionas was onstage as his arrival transformed our relationship drastically.”
